Meet our owner Lindsey, who has been in the beauty industry since 2012. In 2017, she opened Modern Academy of Cosmetology. It has been a dream of Lindsey’s to open a salon and she is now the owner of three Modern Hair Salons! We love our sweet, inspiring Lindsey! Last but not least she opened a business that isn’t part of the beauty industry, The Mason Place. The beautiful venue can be booked for all your special occasions!

Even if you just need to treat yourself to a relaxing shampoo and style, I would love to be your stylist! I studied at Modern Academy of Cosmetology from 2019-2023, and acquired a full cosmetology license soon after. Creating unique styles for unique individuals is the drive behind my business. I am constantly continuing education and adding services to better serve you! Worried about children in the salon? Don't be! I have a young daughter and love meeting and helping littles! I have also coached at Geronimo Gymnastics for numerous years, so I have lots of experience with children of all ages. Book today for a long-lasting hair-lationship!

My name is Avery Collum and and I am from Red Bay Alabama. I started cosmetology school in 2021, right out of high school, and graduated from Modern Academy of Cosmetology in 2022! I’ve always had a passion for the beauty industry and I can truly say I am living my dreams!! I recently got married back in June of 2024, to my high school sweetheart! I am beyond blessed with all the highs and lows I have experienced over the last 3 years that have helped me grow not only as a stylist but as a person! If you have ever sat in chair I’m so thankful for you! If you haven’t sat in my chair I would absolutely love to have you!

I’m Alyssa, your local redhead stylist, and I have a passion for the beauty community! I started my education in 2021, at Modern Academy of Cosmetology. After graduating in 2022, I furthered my knowledge at Hardy’s Hair Studio before finding my salon home. When I’m not behind the chair, you can usually find me student teaching at Modern Academy! In my downtime I love to ride horses, read tales of far away lands, and build my life with my husband. I hope to see you in my chair soon!
Alyssa Stephens
Hair Stylist/Barber - Downtown Location
I graduated from Limestone County Career Technical Center in 2020 and have been a fully licensed cosmetologist and barber since December 2024. Currently, I serve as an instructor at Modern Academy, where I share my passion for the beauty industry with aspiring professionals. In my personal time, I enjoy caring for my cows and spending quality moments with my husband and dog. I also value supporting those who serve our community by offering military, firefighter, and EMT discounts. I can't wait to have you in my chair!
Kasey Toone
Nail Technician - Downtown Location
I am a creative nail artist with a passion for creating unique designs. I graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2023 + am a student teacher at Modern Academy of Cosmetology. I specialize in all things nail art, ranging from intricate designs + applications to extensions + overlays. When I’m not in the salon, I enjoy spending my days with my husband and my puppy, Oakley! I am dedicated to providing a unique experience with exceptional customer service. I can’t wait to have you in my chair!

Peyton attended Modern Academy of Cosmetology from 2021-2022. After graduating, she started her professional journey at Revelationz Hair Studio, before joining our team in 2023. When Peyton is not at the salon, she enjoys reading mysteries and practicing photography.

Mary has been in the beauty industry for over 30 years. With her easy-going personality and fun energy, anyone that sits in Mary’s chair is guaranteed to have a good time! When not in the salon, Mary enjoys hanging out with family and friends. If she’s not rocking out to 80’s hair bands, she is probably on her way to the beach! We love our Mary and know that you would too!
Mary Bowling
Hair Stylist - North Florence Location
Michele started her career in Atlanta. She is Sassoon trained and received further education at Toni and Guy Academy. She also attended Redken Exchange in New York City, where she became a Redken Specialist. She opened a family-owned salon in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1997 and worked there until 2019. Michele moved to The Shoals in 2020 and is looking forward meeting and taking care of new clients!

Hi, my name is Amberlee Clark. As a cosmetologist at Modern Hair, I hold an Associate of Applied Science degree in Salon and Spa Management, and am a licensed cosmetology instructor. Hair and beauty have been my passion for as long as I can remember and I have dedicated my career to helping others feel confident and beautiful. I am also the proud owner of Hypnotic Hair, a premium hair company that provides top-of-the-line extensions for all hair types. My mission is to deliver quality and versatility. It is important to me that every client gets the best products and services for their unique needs. When it comes to my work, I love expressing my creativity through highlights, silk presses, hair treatments, waxing, extensions, and so much more. My goal is to help you achieve your dream look, while creating a fun and relaxing experience along the way. As a proud cat mom to three adorable fur babies, she finds joy in traveling and exploring diverse cultures. Jayden's commitment to her craft guarantees that every client walks away feeling their absolute best. She is thrilled to share her unique perspective and skills with the Modern Hair team, creating meaningful connections along the way!

Hello beauties! My name is Lindsay Dixon + I am from Loretto, Tennessee. I graduated high school in 2022 + pursued an associate’s degree in Psychology through 2024. During that time, I realized this wasn’t the path for me. I had a desire to explore something creative that allowed me to express myself + make others feel confident + beautiful. In July 2024, I began a nail tech journey at Modern Academy of Cosmetology + can honestly say it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! While I love every aspect of nail care, nail art is where my heart truly lies. I am thrilled to have graduated in early 2025, + have accepted a position in Modern Hair’s Killen location. This is an exciting new chapter in my career, + I can’t wait to continue growing + sharing my passion with all of you! Thank you for being a part of my journey!
